Portfolio

Susan’s work as a Cincinnati-based writer, blogger and social media consultant has varied widely. Listed below are some examples of her freelance and independent projects. (To see non-confidential work Susan’s done on behalf of previous employers, please contact her to request a portfolio by email.)

Social Media/Community Management

Mom Corps, a staffing franchise specializing in flexible work for experienced professionals, hired Susan to help build a strong database of job candidates in the Cincinnati area. Susan created and manages the Mom Corps Cincinnati blog, as well as an active Twitter account (@MomCorpsCincy) and Facebook page (Facebook.com/MomCorpsCincy).

As Prilosec OTC launched an ambitious new promotion to become “The Official Sponsor of Everything You Do Without Heartburn,” the brand’s digital agency, Bridge Worldwide, enlisted Susan as community manager. (Susan was formerly a copy director at Bridge Worldwide.) She posts daily updates for program applicants and fans on Twitter (@PrilosecOTC) and Facebook (Facebook.com/PrilosecOTC), and responds to questions, comments and discussion from the Prilosec OTC community.

Copywriting

Just because you have a small business doesn’t mean you have to think small when it comes to your website. Susan has helped entrepreneurs and professionals redesign or create impressive Web presences, partnering with Cincinnati-based Web designers/programmers and writing the site copy (along with other collateral materials). Here are a few examples of her clients’ websites:

Southwest Ohio Pain Management: A new Mason, Ohio-based clinic offering non-steroidal treatments designed specifically for people suffering from chronic pain.

Waite, Schneider, Bayless & Chesley: Cincinnati’s oldest law firm led by world-renowned litigator Stanley M. Chesley.

PE-Services: A mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering firm based in historic Lebanon, Ohio.

The Photo Detective: Boston-based Maureen Taylor combines her photography, history, and genealogy expertise to help find missing photos, interpret unidentified pictures, and preserve and organize photo collections.

Magazine Writing

Susan specialized in magazine publishing while she earned a master’s degree at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, and majored in journalism as an undergrad at Miami University. A former magazine editor (Family Tree Magazine), she’s continued to write for print and Web-based magazines during her career. Check out some of her articles for several publications:
